Gangehi Resort Maldives

Heritage Art & Architecture collaborated with the luxury resort Gangehi Island in Maldives to design and furnish its spa facility. The ‘Ginger Spa’ which includes two cottages and their outhouses are perfect getaways to relax and rejuvenate one’s self. The facility tells a distinct story of architectural accomplishment as it is completely modelled after the Kerala style with wood panelled walls, sloped clay-tile roofs, and the famous ‘Manichithrathazhu;’ the elaborate metal door locks.

Interior: The interior is done in simple wooden planks from wall to wall to allow full ventilation and cool atmosphere inside the room, making it airy and healthy. Visitors are welcomed into a relaxing ambience with low ceilings made of dark wood, mainly teak. The earthy brown shades of the wood coupled with architectural brilliance makes it a very sought-after destination.

Exterior: The exterior walls are also finished in wooden panels with double doors, each one featuring the metal locks in trishul/ trident model and knocker. A decorative strip of floral wooden carvings covers the mid-section of the wall from end to end. Each cottage veranda sports four pillars, with simple designed capitals, circular shafts, and concrete base. The ceilings are also done in wood.

Furniture: The rustic appearance of the booths is complemented with wide wooden massage tables with storage compartments, claw-foot cushion chairs and a sunburst design cupboard. Wooden easy chairs with cup holders and traditional chairs, both with woven cane seats, along with center coffee table complete the furniture ensemble at Ginger Spa.
