South Indian Traditional House in Cochin, Kerala
Heritage Art & Architecture recently completed the Furnishings and Interior Design project for a South Indian traditional house in Cochin, Kerala. Spanning over an area of 2800 sqft, the traditional style house is now glowing in vintage charm and modern convenience. Much effort was taken while choosing furniture to ensure that it matched with the theme of the house. We used customized furniture design and arrangement for maximum utilization of the available space in the house. An antique style swing has been placed in the veranda, which opens into a hall fully decked with comfortable and cozy upholstered Sofa Set.

Teak wood has been used extensively in the project, especially for the wooden ceiling, staircase and traditional furniture pieces. The staircase railings and steps has been recreated in such a way to resemble that of the old traditional mansions' underneath a ceiling design usually seen in palaces. Adding to the overall charm and aesthetics of the house is a mural painting placed by the staircase.

The half post bed used in the master bedroom is a welcome difference. This particular design stands apart from the usual four post bed design as it appears less bulky and more elegant with the glossy teak polish and finishing. The dining set chosen for this project is a 6 seater wooden dining table with 4 chairs and a bench, which also made from teak wood and designed in simple and subtle style. However, it is the kitchen that steals the show with it convenience and modern design that blends easily with the traditional style.

Fashioned in the ways of modern island kitchen format, the kitchen sports a clean and classic finish. The teak cabins and marble work on the counters, combined with hardware from premium brands, further ensures the durability and quality of the kitchen.
